Dr. Mondlane led the processes of the development of several strategic plans most notably the Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan (RISDP) of SADC, where he was the team leader, thus giving him extensive knowledge and expertise in formulating medium and long-term strategic policy development and business plans pertaining to medium-term expenditure frameworks. He has extensive expertise and experience in preparing mission reports, annual reports on program implementation and evaluation having extensively exercised this responsibility in his professional experience and more recently at the SADC Secretariat. Also at the SADC, he developed the ability to build strategies and coordinate the process of mobilizing resources and interact with donors, having developed a strategy to mobilize resources to implement the SADC Regional Indicative Strategic Development Plan, which is yielding very positive results.

Dr. Angelo Mondlane holds a PhD (Dev. Economics) from the University of Sussex and possesses strong analytical skills and vast experience on policy research and analysis in the areas of international economics including international trade, finance, investment, regional integration and globalization issues. He has extensive experience in strategic planning, monitoring and evaluating national and regional policies and strategies for development, in the areas of regional cooperation and integration His deep understanding of the operations of international organizations such as the World Bank, IMF, WTO, EU, UNECA, RECS (COMESA, ECOWAS, EAC) are based in his experiences working with all these organizations on diverse aspects, including trade negotiations, capacity building, resource mobilization, policy development in his capacity as Chief/Principal Economist of SADC and Director for Policy, Strategic Planning and Development Cooperation.
